ER

Today was Isaac's first ER trip (I am sure not his last...).

Somehow he fell on the ramp leading from the house to the garage.
So at 9:30 in the morning, I am sending Jake across the street to the neighbors house. She comes over and agrees to take C&J as I head to the ER. After only a few minutes holding a cold, wet washcloth on it, (amazingly) it almost stops bleeding! Isaac has cut his forehead open above his nose, pretty deep and big. I pile him in the van, stop by my parents because I have lost my cell and they have an extra which I borrow. Within 30 min of the fall, I am in the ER with a little boy that has blood all over his head because in the van he was rubbing it.
We get into a room and they apply the "magic" numbing stuff with a cotton ball and tape it in place. I forgot any books to occupy his hands so we resort to the never fail surgical gloves. Which works for quite a while!!! On and off they go, snapping and clapping. Distracted he is!
Finally, the Dr. and the nurse come in, ready to do stitches... The nurse holds his head, I hold his hands with his blanket... and the Dr. starts in on the stitches. It is so deep that 2 inside stitches need to be made (I had to look away for those :{ ). Then onto actually stitching up the outside. To be expected, Isaac is having none of this. He doesn't like to be held down, doesn't like the drape over his face - he keeps saying "all done". My poor baby is crying, "Mommy", and all I can do is hold his hands and talk to him. He is so tired that at one point he was starting to fall asleep WHILE THE DR. IS STILL STITCHING!!! I sing to him helping him to relax and he nearly is asleep when the Dr. moves the drape and Isaac starts to cry once again.
10 or so outside stitches later they are done. A little medicine, sign some papers, and 2.5 hours later we walk out of the ER.

Isaac sleeps most of the afternoon away and this evening is walking around Grandma and Grandpa's backyard eating blueberries off the bushes.

He seems to be doing OK, just quite tired and attached to my hip more than usual.

Here's to quick healing, minimal scars and no more ER trips!!!
