New Addition, Part 3

As the 3rd (and probably final) addition to this, I figure I should give an update as to the welfare of our new pets. Well............ there is only 1 baby left. We don't know why but Popcorn (the mommy) probably ate the other babies and there is only 1 female hampster left. Because she is female, we are just going to keep her. So we have 3 girl hampsters, Peanut, Popcorn and Pretzel. WooHoo.

New Do's

Christian and Jakob have been getting pretty shaggy. I don't want to pay the hairdresser $11 each for them to do something that I can do at home. So I finally bit the bullet. Trapping them in a chair with a cape on, trying to reason with them that it won't take long and if they would just sit still it would be over soon! Crying ensued - not me, them. So when it was all over, I dried tears, wiped, blew and brushed hair off their faces, necks and shoulders - silently thinking that maybe next time it would be worth the $11 to pay someone else to do it!
This is the end result:
(Happy Christian with ears again!)
(Mad Jakob with ears again!)
and a mound of hair that I could create wigs for many people!

New Addition, Part 2

Ok, so a few weeks ago I posted about our newest additions, Princess and Peanut (hampsters, by the way...). Only a few days after getting them, Princess died of unknown reasons. We think that she was eating the sealant off the cage (an old 10 gal. aquarium). So I called my friend that we got them from, arranging to get another one from her. We did and within a few hours, it was clear that they WEREN'T going to get along. I called my friend yet again and she said no problem just bring the 2nd hampster back and get another one - again! So we did. Within a couple of days I realize something was different. The newest hampster (Popcorn) was a little slower... sleeping a lot more than Peanut and hoarding food down to her bedding... Yes, you guessed it, she was pregnant. Sometime while with my friend, the boys and girls got mixed up and well... When I called my friend to tell her and ask what I should do, she told me that she also had a new "batch" of baby hampsters. This last weekend, Popcorn had her babies. We cannot see them all that well, but because she is in the aquarium, the bottom is glass! So we moved it off the edge of the shelf, able to see their little pink bodies squirming around! At last count there are at least 10 - I think. Yikes!

Now, what to do with baby hampsters?
