J and the Molar

I will be the first to admit, I do not have any love for dentists. Since I was little, I have had a fear of them and what they do in that chair... I have struggled not to project that fear onto my boys.

Several months ago, I finally bit the bullet and made appointments with a dentist not far from us. He specifically works with kids, so I was semi-comfortable with him. Both C & J had cleanings and x-rays and such. C only had one cavity (YAY!!), but J had 4, with several other spots to watch. I was so impressed with him - he was gentle, explaining everything to the boys, making the whole experience a learning time instead of scary.

Last week, J had his first filling for the worst of the cavities. Well, it was worse than anyone thought. After 2 shots of Novocaine and one inside the tooth (yes, INSIDE), the dentist said that he couldn't save the tooth and had to pull it. It was a baby tooth and the only worry was that it would cause bite and crowding issues. J was not very happy. Not nessecarily because of the pain, but cause he wasn't feeling much by this point, but because he was loosing the tooth. This was the molar that came out of J's mouth:

Yes. It is a large tooth. VERY LARGE. The Tooth Fairy paid one paper dollar, one dollar in quarters and one gold dollar for it - and J still kept the tooth!!!

Cheezy subject

Some pics I took at the park yesterday...
didn't have C or J with me,
so it was just Isaac as my subject!
Peeking over the top of the rock wall

Checking out the bugs in the center of the tree
Going through...

... to smile at mom!

and ended up getting a great shot (if I do say so) of me!
wanting to take a pic like mom did
old trees, falling apart... I could have spent hours there just taking pictures! I was there with a friend of mine and her boy and we both decided that we had to go back there with all our kids, just to take nice pictures!!! I can't wait!

I love it when...

- I have friends that give me a hug because they know I could use one

- my boys are playing well together

- I can dance in the morning

- I can smile... and I am not forcing it!

- I feel like I have gotten something done during the day

- I hear C reading to I... and I didn't ask him to

- I can blast Michael Buble and we all dance

- the sun is shining... even if it is for a minute

- I feel beautiful

I just LOVE that!

Basket Slough

Several weeks ago, the boys and I took a drive to a nearby Wildlife Preserve called Basket Slough. The reasons for going many: it was beautiful outside; it is one of the many things that we needed to check off in Christian's Cub Scout book; we can make another stop at their Great-Grandparents' who live just a few minutes away from there; it is just a cool nearby place to go and see some amazing animals. I have been meaning to post pictures about it since and I figured I had better do it before I forget!

This is a picture of a bald eagle eating a duck. There was a couple there before us that actually saw it swoop down and pluck it out of the water. I took this through the big telescope that is there for people to use... Looking out at the ducks... The moon and clouds
and the moon through the telescope (no cropping or photo fixing)

We had a lot of fun... it ended up being cold and we got back home WAY later than we should have, but it was very cool and we WILL be going back!
